Free Council Text Alert Service for Meath

MapAlerter is used by Meath County Council to communicate with local residents and workers about service disruptions, public safety messages and other important updates. You can now sign up for this free service to get SMS text alerts, emails and app notifications for your local area.


Free SMS Text, Email & App Alerts for your Meath location

Meath County Council is using MapAlerter since 2019 to issue alerts for all parts of the county. By signing up, you can select a mapped location in the county to ensure you only receive alerts that are locally relevant. For example, if you live in Navan then you will only get road alerts for this part of Meath and you will not get alerts for any faraway places.

You also have the choice to add a Home and Work location so you can get alerts for both places along with commute alerts for any road issues between both places. For example, if you live in Slane and work in Ashbourne then you will receive alerts for both of these places along with any road alerts issued along the connecting route (N2, Skryne, etc.).

Typical Alerts issued by Meath County Council

MapAlerter issues free SMS, email and app alerts across six core categories. Meath County Council currently issues alerts for four categories, as follows:
  • Roads Alerts: Scheduled road works, oil spills, impassable roads, diversion information and more.
  • Weather Alerts: Level Orange and Level Red warnings for Co. Meath. Other localised events also sometimes published depending on the situation (e.g. yellow alerts and weather advisories).
  • Floods & Hazards: Spot flooding, high water levels and storm events such as fallen trees, fallen power lines and more.
  • Planning Activity: Weekly planning lists are emailed for new and decided planning applications around your primary/home location. Development plan updates are also issued as required (e.g. consultation notices).
Meath County Council does not issue alerts for water service issues or other miscellaneous topics.
